A compassionate, relationship-centred approach to midwifery
Hello, I’m Megan an independent midwife based in North Essex, and a mother to two wonderful boys. I support people through pregnancy and the early weeks after birth with care that is thoughtful, evidence-informed, and deeply respectful of individual choice. Outside of my work as a midwife, I enjoy baking, gardening, and settling down to watch a film with my partner — quiet, grounding moments that balance the intensity and privilege of this work.
I chose independent midwifery because I believe women deserve time, continuity, and space to be heard. Too often, care is rushed or shaped by systems rather than people. Working independently gives me the flexibility to practise as the midwife I want to be — offering unhurried care, meaningful relationships, and genuine support for informed decision-making.
How I work
My approach is calm, steady, and collaborative. I see my role as working in partnership with you, offering skilled clinical care, clear information, and steady support you can trust.
Appointments are longer and flexible, with time not only for physical checks but also for conversation, reflection, and preparation. I share evidence openly and without agenda, supporting you to make decisions that feel right for your body, your baby, and your circumstances.
Why independent midwifery matters to me
Independent midwifery allows me to practise in a way that feels aligned with my values — offering care that is present, thoughtful, and centred on the individual. It means I can listen fully, adapt care thoughtfully, and provide continuity in a way that supports both safety and autonomy. Above all, I believe care should feel respectful, unhurried, and grounded in trust.
